ABOUT US

What is the Baptist Church Ministry Conference

The Baptist Church Ministry Conference (BCMC) was born in the hearts of Pastor Mike Frazier of Canton Baptist Temple (Canton, Ohio) and Pastor Dennis Jennings of Cherry Street Baptist Church (Springfield, Missouri).  The vision for BCMC is to provide an annual opportunity for pastors, missionaries, and others in full time ministry to come together to be refreshed, encouraged, equipped and challenged to return to their place of service excited about fulfilling the Great Commission through the ministry of their local Baptist Church.

The guiding principles of the BCMC can be summed up in three words: Biblical; Balanced; and Baptist.

  • BIBLICAL

The BCMC is a preaching conference.  It is our conviction that the Word of God is what the Spirit of God uses to work in the hearts of the people of God to accomplish the will of God in this world. Our passion is that those who come to the BCMC be challenged, encouraged and inspired by the preaching of God’s Word.

  • BALANCED

The BCMC is a ministry conference.  It is our conviction that God’s plan for every believer and church is the fulfillment of the Great Commission for “all the world to every creature.” You will be challenged to reach people of every demographic in your community and your world through the ministry of your local church. At BCMC, our focus is evangelism, ministry and missions.

  • BAPTIST

The BCMC is unashamedly a Baptist conference.  It is our conviction that the distinctives that make Baptists who we are have both relevance and value in a time when Bible doctrine is taking as backseat to pragmatism, programs, and personality driven ministry.  The BCMC embraces our historical Baptist heritage, not as a matter of nostalgia, but as a matter of Biblical conviction.

Our Values:

As a Baptist entity we hold to the following Baptist Distinctives:

  • We believe in biblical authority in all matters of faith and practice.
  • We believe in the autonomy of the local church – congregational rule.
  • We believe in the priesthood of all believers.
  • We believe in two ordinances of the local church – baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.
  • We believe in individual soul liberty.
  • We believe in a saved and baptized church membership.
  • We believe in two offices of the local church – pastor and deacon.
  • We believe in the separation of church and state.

Our Leadership:

  • Co-Chairmen
    • Mike Frazier, Canton Baptist Temple, Canton, Ohio
    • Dennis Jennings, Cherry Street Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri
  • Steering Committee
    • Archie Emerson, Ocean State Baptist Church, Smithfield, Rhode Island
    • Linzy Slayden, Friendship Baptist Church, Owasso, Oklahoma
    • Tom Wagoner, Central Baptist Church, Dunn, North Carolina
    • Tracy Roby, Overland Park Baptist Temple, Overland Park, KS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the purpose of the Baptist Church Ministry Conference?

The purpose of BCMC2016 is to provide an opportunity for Baptist pastors to be encouraged, edified and equipped for the local, regional and global work of the Great Commission.

Who is the Baptist Church Ministry Conference for?

BCMC 2016 is for pastors or staff members of churches that hold to the values of biblical distinctives. Everyone is welcome, however, please keep in mind that we are unapologetically Baptist.

For more on our values read here: Our Values

What is the cost of the conference?

There is no cost for attending the conference. The Canton Baptist Temple has graciously offered to underwrite the cost. The main cost of attending would be your transportation and lodging.

I am a pastor and would like to attend but don’t have the finances to do so. Is there any financial assistance?

We recognize that there may be pastors of smaller churches or who are bi-vocational and do not have the finances to attend a three day event. We have attempted to create an environment where there is minimal cost to those attending. However, there may be a limited number of families from the Canton Baptist Temple who would be willing to host you during the conference. If you are interested in staying in a members’ home, please contact Bob Hutton at rhutton@cantonbaptist.org as soon as possible. Remember, there are a limited number of homes available so first come first serve.

Where do you recommend that we stay?

We have listed five hotels that have put together special pricing for those attending the conference. Those can be seen here: recommended hotels. There are also many other hotels within the Canton area that are not listed and have not been contacted for special pricing.

Are there any meals being served at the conference?

In order to keep the cost affordable, the Canton Baptist Temple will be providing all meals except breakfasts. A continental breakfast is available at each of the recommended hotels.

How can I get from the airport or the hotel to the conference?

The recommended hotels listed provide transportation from the airport to the hotel. Canton Baptist Temple will be providing transportation from the 5 hotels (only those 5) to the church before and after the conference each day.

Where is Canton Baptist Temple located?

Canton Baptist Temple is located in Canton, Ohio. Directions can be found here. The church website can be found here.
What is there to do in Canton, Ohio if we want to come before the conference or stay afterwards?

Canton is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, McKinley Museum, shopping centers and several other attractions. Amish country (with farms, shopping and restaurants) is only a few minutes’ drive from Canton. More information can be found here: Visit Stark County  and here: Visit Amish Country
